Pension fund that invests in both fixed and variable income. Depending on whether it has a higher proportion of one or the other, it is known as a fixed-income or mixed variable income pension fund. The lower its exposure to equities, the more its investment focus is directed towards capital preservation. Conversely, the more weight it carries, the more aggressive it will be and the more risks it will entail.
